Emperor Palpatine- formerly Senator Palpatine from Naboo. He was the Sith Master who undermined the Jedi Order and the Old Republic by becoming the Republic's leader, then increasing his power until he could declare himself Emperor. His plans succeeded until Luke Skywalker, son of Palpatine's apprentice Darth Vader, came and overthrew him. Luke did this with the help of Darth Vader, whom he convinced to turn back to the light side of the Force. After Palpatine's body was destroyed, his spirit entered a clone of himself. Luke was forced to destroy Palpatine again a few years later, this time for good.
