HoloNet News - (abbreviated to HNN) was a HoloNet channel that provided news across the Galactic Republic's HoloNet. Based on Coruscant, HoloNet News was in its 531st volume in 22 BBY, meaning that, assuming no breaks due to interruption, it began publication in 509 BBY.

With the tagline "The Information Sources For The Republic", the publication was segmented into news on business, regional sectors, Jedi, sports, and common Republic life, as well as general news headlines. A number of placed advertisements sponsored the publication and full feed annual subscriptions were available for 45 credits in 22 BBY.

On 5:23 22 BBY, HoloNet News' channel was seized by Republic Executive Directive 93021-84121 for use by the military. During, and for a short time after, the Clone Wars, HNN made sporadic updates. Shortly after the war's end and the creation of the Galactic Empire, HNN was finally folded and replaced with the new Imperial Holovision.

Channel 1 - Channel 1 was a HoloNet channel reserved for use by the New Republic government.

In times of emergency or special announcement, the Ruling Council, the President or Fleet High Command could activate Channel 1 and send their message over all HoloNet nodes and channels, covering any regularly scheduled programming.

Channel 11 - Channel 11 was a HoloNet channel reserved for use by the New Republic Senate.

Channel 81 - Channel 81 was a HoloNet channel designated for diplomatic uses. Messages were sent to and from diplomatic missions, embassies, home governments and New Republic offices.

Shadowcast - Shadowcast was a secret communications network used by the Rebel Alliance to communicate with operatives and spies during the Galactic Civil War. It was established in 1 BBY.

The network transmitted encrypted messages within commercial advertisements via the HoloNet. Ironically, the very commercial messages used were those that paid for Imperial pro-programming. Each transmission over the network was hand encrypted and dispatched over a ghostwave that attached itself to a commercial transmission. The code key was altered with every sixth broadcast across the network.

During the war, Shadowcast transmitted messages to thousands of Rebel agents placed behind Imperial lines and remained a closely held secret. Its detection countermeasures were so successful that the network had continued use during at least the first five years of the New Republic.

Coruscant University Press - Coruscant University Press published educational texts and treatises written by the staff of the University of Coruscant. Coruscant Hourly - The Coruscant Hourly was a New Republic news service based on Coruscant.

Flimsiplast - Flimsiplast was one of the most popular of the media for the written word. The hair-thin sheets of acrylic medium was almost transparent and was sometimes collected into hardbound "books". Flimsiplast was also used for printing hard-copies of computer files.
